As Coalville’s £2.8 million Marlborough Square redevelopment gets set to ‘open’, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society – whose branch is located on the Square – is proudly proclaiming: “We love Coalville’s exciting regeneration, and we are proud to be here for you!”
Whilst some other banks and building societies have abandoned Coalville in recent years, we are here to stay. The Society has had a presence in Coalville for 127 years, and we have reaffirmed our commitment to the town.
“The Society has always been proud to provide its communities with friendly, face-to-face service, and is committed to its continued presence in Coalville,” confirmed CEO Barry Carter.
Although the cashless generation largely prefers a purely digital experience, building societies still play a vital role on the high street.
“Many people still prefer a personal, face-to-face relationship, and are on first-name terms with Society staff,” said branch manager Tracey Phipps. “And although a lot of our members are embracing our own digital offering, many others prefer to have a passbook and to pop in for a chat while topping up their savings. It’s part of what community life is all about!”
The regeneration of Marlborough Square is part of a broader Regeneration Framework of improvements for the town.
“We’ve been enthusiastic about this important project from the very beginning,” said Tracey Phipps, “and just as the Local Authority is investing in the town, so is Hinckley & Rugby through our support for local community projects. We are here to support Coalville and its community to build a better financial future.
“Whatever your savings goals, whether you’re 8 or 80, an individual or a business, we have a specially designed savings account to help you reach those goals. And to help children get into the savings habit, we’ve published a fully illustrated storybook – it’s free to our new young savers, so pop in next time you’re in the Square!”
The Marlborough Square redevelopment ‘opens’ with the first weekly Friday market on Friday 23 August 8am – 4pm, and a family fun day on Saturday 24 August 10am – 4pm. You can read more about the regeneration of Coalville at nwleics.gov.uk.
