Hinckley & Rugby has a long history of supporting its local communities. In 2022 we went further and launched our own Community Foundation to form relationships with major local charities. The Foundation provides annual grants of up to £5,000 to selected good causes that address the most pressing social issues in our local areas.
Alongside the Society’s support for major local charities through the Foundation, we have long responded to occasional requests for support from smaller local charities and community groups. Through sponsorship and volunteering, we have always helped where we could.
Now, we have made a commitment to provide greater support to small local groups through the launch of our Community Sponsorship Scheme. The new Scheme aims to encourage small local charities, community groups and sports clubs to apply for donations of up to £700.
Whether you’re involved in your local choir, gardening club, litter picking team, local fête, or children’s sports club, we understand that funding activities can be a challenge. Through our new Community Sponsorship Scheme we may be able to help, and we invite you to tell us what you need.
Hinckley & Rugby can consider donations of up to £700 per organisation to help fund your club or charity’s next project, cover travel costs, or to purchase all-important new equipment. We may also be able to help you promote your upcoming event, and provide advice, expertise or volunteers to help you succeed.
We will consider supporting organisations in our local communities that work to:
• relieve poverty and disadvantage;
• support mental and physical health and wellbeing; or
• protect and improve the environment.
Announcing the launch, Niki Barker, our Chief People Officer, said:
“Our new Community Sponsorship Scheme enables the Society to support those small charities and clubs that are the beating heart of our local towns and villages. These organisations build our communities and enhance the mental and physical wellbeing of those who use them, making each a vital asset to its community and deserving of our backing.”
A regular beneficiary of the Society’s support is Hinckley Concordia Amateur Operatic Society. Nanette Goodman, Secretary, said:
“Staging an amateur production is very costly. Lighting, sound and costumes all come at a price, so to have the assurance of sponsorship from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society is a great help, and has been over many years. We are so grateful!”
