Hinckley & Rugby Building Society showcased its support for charities and community groups at a Leicestershire Cares event for local VCSE (voluntary, community and social enterprise) organisations.
Hinckley & Rugby Chief Executive Colin Fyfe outlined the Building Society’s backing to more than 30 representatives of Leicestershire VCSE groups during the event organised by the business volunteering charity Leicestershire Cares.
Also speaking was Jenny Hand, Chief Executive of Reaching People, which provides support with funding, training, opportunities and leadership development for charities and community organisations.
The event is part of Leicestershire Cares’ Together project to enable VCSE organisations to access business advice and skills support to deliver services more effectively.
Colin Fyfe said:
“Sharing is part of the culture at Hinckley & Rugby Building Society and working with Leicestershire Cares we have been able to share our knowledge and expertise with local community organisations. We are here to support our communities in whatever ways we can.”
Hinckley & Rugby has launched a Charity Accumulator Deposit account designed so charities can earn valuable interest to fund their work plus access free expertise from Hinckley & Rugby’s boardroom and departments such as HR, IT, Marketing and Finance. Its head office and branches can also be used as meeting spaces for charity customers.
Kieran Breen, Chief Executive of Leicestershire Cares, said:
“It was excellent to see business, the community and local government sharing learning and seeking to work together so nobody is left behind. It was wonderful to meet with staff from a wide range of community groups.
“It was a great opportunity to hear from our partners Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, who spoke about how the Society has evolved with sharing central to its work, and Reaching People, who spoke about opportunities as part of their consortium.”
The Together project will continue with workshops in April, May, June and July. It is supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.
