Bright Hope gets a boost from Society sponsorship

The Society’s Community Sponsorship Scheme was introduced in Spring this year, to provide financial backing and support to small charities, community groups and clubs in our heartlands of Leicestershire and Warwickshire.

Bright Hope, a charity based in Swannington and serving the people of North West Leicestershire, recently applied for sponsorship to help fund their Befriending Service, which reaches out to vulnerable and sometimes isolated individuals with life limiting conditions. Their application was successful, therefore Guy and Carla from our Marketing team took a trip over to Bright Hope, a short commute from our Coalville branch, to learn all about the charity and this important service.

Carla said:

“A huge thank you to Trustee Jan Shepherd who gave us a tour of their fantastic facilities and told us the amazing story about how they found their way to their new purpose-built property, with very generous financing from Bloor Homes on land owned and provided by North West Leicestershire District Council.

It was great to learn about the history of this long-standing charity and the wide range of services they offer, all in place to help improve the physical and/or mental health of those living with conditions which significantly reduce their quality of life, as well as support for their families and carers. The stories Janet told us were truly inspirational.”

Guy added:

“We are thrilled the Society have been able to help fund the Befriending service which offers companionship and assistance to individuals who are often find themselves isolated. It sounds like the regular planned phone calls can provide a real lifeline, and often act as an introduction to the other services Bright Hope can provide.”

“It was good to meet with Carla and Guy and to thank them for the support Hinckley & Rugby are giving us with the Befriending service funding, as well as Society support in the past. This service is being improved and relaunched to have a greater reach and to assist more vulnerable people in getting back to a lifestyle where they are able to meet people face to face again without fear. We look forward to working with the team in the future.”
